DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY

  • The psychiatry departmental activities started in 2013 when it existed as District Headquarter Hospital, Nellore , with one Associate Professor and one Assistant Professor, did OP consultation of the patients and admitted patients on IP basis in the medical wards only.
  • The District Headquarters Hospital has changed into Govt. Medical college with recognised Psychiatry department with enhanced staff pattern in September 2014 – one Professor and 2 Assistant professors.

OBJECTIVES, VISION OF THE DEPT.

  1. Objectives:

    • To lead and collaborate in the reduction of disease risk, promotion of mental health and well being across lifespan.
    • To treat and help the individuals with mental illness and to achieve their highest potential of normalcy.

    Vision

    • To render the best possible clinical care for all psychiatric patients in all settings.
    • To render excellent training for postgraduate and undergraduate students.
    • To make substantial contribution to knowledge through research.

    Goals

    • The department goals are to discuss how the brain works and what causes are normal and abnormal human behaviours and factors related to them  to develop new treatment strategies and to pave the way for promoting to cure mental illness

  • Conducted World  Mental Health Day  awareness programme  on  09 th October 2023 to  the  Faculty ,medical ,paramedical and  nursing  students of ACSRMC
